Brent crude, the international benchmark for oil prices, rose $2.78, or 2.6 percent, to $62.84 a barrel by 8:47 a.m. ET (1347 GMT). U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures were up $2.17, or 4.2 percent, at $53.66 per barrel.

Gold Silver Reports (GSR ) – Silver ready prices zoomed by Rs 380 to Rs 37,740 per kg, while weekly-based delivery jumped by Rs 619 to Rs 36,368 per kg. Silver coins, however, also ended flat at Rs 72,000 for buying and Rs 73,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Prices also received a boost after Canada’s Alberta province announced plans to cut production by 325,000 barrels a day.
