Muhurat trading pre-open market timings
The pre-opening session will be conducted from 6:00 pm to 6:08 pm on both stocks exchanges. On regular trading days, the pre-opening session opens for fifteen minutes starting 9:00 am.
Muhurat trading regular timings
The Muhurat trading window will be available from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm. This window will be applicable to the equity, MCX – Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd, equity derivatives, currency derivatives and commodity derivatives segments.
Market holiday
The financial markets will remain closed on Monday, October 28 for Diwali Balipratipada. After the Muhurat trading session on Sunday, trading will resume next on Tuesday, October 29.
An hour of stock market trading will be held on October 27 on account of Lakshmi puja held on Diwali. The one-hour trading session, known as Mahurat trading, marks the beginning of a new Hindu calendar year, Vikram Samvat 2076.
Both BSE and NSE will remain open for an hour today, starting 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm. The session will also be preceded by a pre-opening session between 6:00 pm and 6:08 pm.
The session is considered auspicious and many investors participate in the session as investing during the period is believed to bring in prosperity, good fortune and wealth throughout the year.
It is worth noting that all trades executed in the market during the Diwali Muhurat trading session shall result in settlement obligations, according to the NSE.
Muhurat trading has been organised by the Bombay Stock Exchange since 1957 while NSE started it from the year 1992.
Ahead of the Muhurat trading session, analysts have been optimistic about Samvat 2076. Some of the stocks that investors could look at, based on inputs shared by market experts, are ITC shares, ICICI Bank shares, Axis Bank shares and Godrej Industries shares.
