There is a looming possibility of a market downturn if the United States fails to raise the debt limit and encounters delays in government payments. The S&P 500 index’s decline on Friday interrupted a two-day rally, as it struggled to sustain levels above the widely monitored mark of 4,200.

During the pre-market session, the S&P BSE Sensex Index recorded a drop of 150 points or 0.24%, settling at 61,579.78. Similarly, the NSE Nifty 50 Index exhibited a minor decrease of 2 points or 0.01%, reaching 18,201.10.
