India latest reported its 1st day where it addedover 1,000 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the total-number of cases past the 7,000 mark.
India added 1,035 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 7,447. The death toll has risen to 239, with 40 deaths being reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update at 8 a.m.

This is the highest number of deaths reported in a single day in India, surpassing Friday’s tally of 37 deaths.
Most Deaths Reported From Madhya Pradesh In Last 24 Hours
Madhya Pradesh has reported 17 deaths in the last 24 hours, the most from the 40 deaths reported across the country, as per the Union Health Ministry update.

13 deaths were reported from Maharashtra, taking the overall death toll in the state to 110. The state has seen the most number of deaths from Covid-19 so far.
Among other fatalities, two were from Gujarat while one death was reported from Assam.
Covid-19: Health Ministry Advises Against Smoking, Spitting Tobacco in Public
The Union Health Ministry has asked all states to prohibit the use and spitting of smokeless tobacco in public places to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. “Chewing smokeless tobacco products, paan masala and areca nut (supari) increases the production of saliva followed by a very strong urge to spit. Spitting in public places could enhance the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” the ministry said in a letter to chief secretaries of all states and union territories.
